What the uncontrolled feed does to your mind1 minutes read

Just because it captivates your attention does not mean that it is relevant to your life.

Imagine that you enter YouTube, do all the videos are related to the things you like and need to learn? Are they in any way constructive to your life? Do they add anything you can apply tomorrow? Anything making your life easier and fuller?

These “attractive but still unrelated” bits of information in your feeds, portals, and digests give you something to think about at an unconscious level. This new thing, unrelated to your growth, life, and work, will stress you because it will become a small open loop: the cute cat you haven’t decided to buy, the music you are not composing, that thing that is obviously interesting to you, but you never have time to do… All these “micro wishes” have a significant role to play in modern cognitive overloads, burnouts, chronic stress, and more.

My tip: Create this Meta Decision  by asking yourself:

“Does that content will help me have a better, easier, fuller, and more joyful life?” If not, consider it “junk content,” consume it only once in a long while, just like you would junk food.

Stay safe, practice mental hygiene, unlock your potential, is your birthright.
