Self Inquiry with Obsidian.md Episode 1 – What is self inquiry? (And how you can save your life)3 minutes read

You are about to learn the most powerful exercise there is for personal development. Learn and master this and you will be able to fix any personal problem that will ever come your way.
If you put this into practise now, in a couple of months from now you will be a completely new person.
Before we get our hands on it, I want to talk to you about what is self inquiry, or let’s say, what do I mean by self inquiry.
Quickly put, self inquiry is the practise of asking questions directed to yourself, thinking about it like having a deep interview with yourself.
It quickly develops self-awareness and creates a deep understanding of why you do, think, and feel what you do.
We have a tendency to fall into default mode way too quickly and in that mode well, we say things and act in ways that are not all that optimal to day the least. This practise will help you dissect what it is that motivates you, drives you, stops you and your actions.

What is the point?

The root of this practise is to achieve a critical point in which you are no longer an unknown thing to yourself, how to say it, to have things very straight and clear about yourself. This means no more guilt, no more “why did I do this or that?” no more co-dependency and no more of the feeling of not being in absolute control of your life, psychology and ultimately your destiny.
Now how do we achieve such a degree of self-awareness? if you want to know someone, the first thing you have to do is ask the right questions. Then you will, answer after answer, create a more accurate picture of that person, until it comes a moment in which you know what and how that person will react in the future. You will create patterns in your mind about her behaviour, you will know when to be strict and when to be empathetic, you will know when is telling the truth and when is lying. You are not different really.
I mean, tell me, when you go around and talk to yourself in your mind, are you listening? Or are you to involved in talking, and what is that thing you direct your words to? You see, it is pretty natural in humans to have this “double mind” kind of system and then, this means that you can ask yourself a question and simply answer it.

Not all questions are good

But you see, if something I’ve learned over the years is that not all questions have the same impact.
“Why did I do that?” can easily be answered with “Because I am stupid” and that answer will not get you anywhere, further more, it will undermine yourself. If in the same situation we ask “What motivated me to do that” then all the sudden we will have pragmatic information about ourselves, with it we will be able to spot most if not all pitfalls we get into.
So throughout the series I will be sharing what questions are the best, how to answer them, what mindsets are best in order to dig deep into your mind and of course, it will be filled up with resources and hands on practises. well, it will be mostly about practises so when you watch them, have your obsidian open and your mind in working mode, so you can follow along and take full responsibility for your personal improvement.

Also, it is worth mentioning that there is a discord channel you can join right now in which I will be answering your questions and creating accountability and co-work sessions so if you are interested in taking this seriously, check the link in the description below and join the community.
